How the Coronavirus has changed some of our eating habits

According to new research, regarding COVID 19 and our eating habits, we have seen an unprecedented rise in fast food and sugary drinks resulting in obesity, type II diabetes, and high blood pressure. This is not only affecting adults but children too! Although junk food can play a major part in being overweight there are other causes too such as a lack of exercise, stress, underactive thyroid, eating foods that are labelled 'low fat' which have hidden sugars, and certain medicines to name a few. There is a myriad of reasons why we find losing weight - difficult.

Calculating your BMI

To be considered for the Hypnotic Gastric Band Programme you must have a Body Mass Index or BMI over 35. (If you have a lower BMI and still wish to lose weight - please look at the Kim's Slim to be Trim Programme)

This is a measure of your weight compared to your height. The BMI result also provides you with an indication of your health risks. So what do the results mean? A BMI result of

 

  • less than 18.5 - underweight

  • between 18.5 - 24.9 is regarded as "Healthy"

  • between 25.00 - 29.9 is classed as "Overweight"

  • and a BMI between 30-40 is considered "Obese"

  • Anything over 40 is classed as "Morbidly Obese​

 

It is, therefore, to obtain an accurate assessment of your BMI as being overweight or obese can significantly increase your risk to certain medical conditions such as:

  • heart disease

  • stroke

  • certain cancers

  • type 2 diabetes

  • joint issues such as osteoarthritis

  • high blood pressure

 

There is an 80% success rate with the Hypnotic Gastric Band compared with the surgical gastric band which has only a 70%.  Furthermore, the Hypnotic Gastric Band is much cheaper too!
